Hi All:
If anyone is an MSN user like myself and has a CF modem and is trying to dial into the MSN network via the CF modem, it will work.
After hours of trying and talking to MSN and Dell and MSn and Dell and MSN, well you get the picture, I finally have what it takes.

First make sure your settings in connections are all to Internet. Next create a new setting title MSN, select "Generic IRDA Modem, and Baud rate of 115200.
DO NOT TOUCH THE ADVANCED SETTINGS.
Click next and enter your local dial in number. If you have to dial 1 and area code to make a normal call, enter it ALL in the phone number are, or enter just the 7 digit # if thats all you need. Yes I know that the country code and area are already set for you, but MSN has difficulty with this. Once you enter the 10 or 7 digit access # continue to next. Make the nessesary adjustments and select finish.
Now once you are done go back and sellect Dialing locations, then dialing patterns.
Now clear all the sellections and type in 'G' in each block, then click OK and exit out.
Now go to start, internet expl. and click MSN Mobile, select the option connect to msn mobile via internet on pocket PC. Ensure your modem is connect and such.
Now to connect it will ask for a username+passwork. Type the following MSN/ and the type in user name. MSN MUST BE IN CAPS. The username is just that. Do not inclued @msn.com. Example MSN/12345 Type in your passwork, and leave domain name blank.

It worked for me!!!

Good Luck

I followed all of the steps specified however I had to use the CF-Modem setting instead of IRDA to get connected. Now the problem.... Although I do seem to be connected I cannot access any pages to view so something is still not right.

I read somewere that it was not possible to view msn or access email on the PPC, however there seemed to be a patch that would get around this problem. Could this be holding me back?

Also on a more general note why does the PPC have three different categories of Home Work and Internet in the first place?

Any help is appreciated.

ps I bought my 56K CF-Modem at CompUSA for $29.99 + Tax after rebates. A good deal to say the least but only if I can get it to work.

Can I resurrect this topic as I still have been unable to connect to MSN using my CF-modem. Does anyone else have any updated information on this subject.
