Easiest way to enter a large anount of new contacts?

Hey guysm just got my Axim x50v.. I want to enter all my contacts into it from my paperback organizer.. So what is the quickest a most effciant way to do this? From my desktop obviously. I have outlook express, but i have 100's of contacts (none are on my computer, all are in my book) I want to add so this would take forever and a lot of clicking around.. Any 3rd party programs (compatable with outlook) that will layout the fields you want to enter in one form?

Thanks,
Josh

If you have a scanner with ocr (optical character recognizer) software you should be able to do it. Or if you have a card scanner you can do it as well. You scan the info and then your scanner recognizes the characters as actual letters and lets you organize them as names and addresses. you'd still have to edit them, but it's easier than starting from scratch.

If you have both Outlook and Outlook Express installed, just open up Outlook, then go to File - Import and Export - Import Internet Mail and Addresses, then highlight Outlook Express and make sure Import Address Book is checked.

EDIT: I just realized you don't have anything entered into Outlook Express. You can try entering the data into Excel and then importing them to Outlook. I have never tried this, but it might work. This site has an Excel template already prepared:

If I remember correctly just type it into excel (using whichever fields you want) and save it as a csv. Then import it in Outlook and I think you get to choose what each field imports into in the contacts file.

I generally enter my contacts directly into Outlook. If you have multiple contacts from the same company, you can save some time by using "Actions - New Contact From Same Company". That will save you have having to re-enter the basic demographic info.

I have found it is oretty easy (although a bit time consuming) to just input them directly into Outlook and then sync using Active Sync.
