Will a Smart Media card work in an Axim?
My X5 will be arriving Monday and I want to have a little
extra space ready. I have an extra 64mb from my camera already.
If not I will go shopping before then.

May I suggest a Lexar? And while I have jumped in, let me suggest you read all the "wonderful" Sandisk reviews before you even consider a Sandisk.

BTW, had my Lexar 256 for a number of months. Have all the applications that will run from a card loaded on it as well as all my data, etc. Works perfectly.

how I will be using the ax. Seems like they are all reliable.

Here is a much cheaper (and smaller) SmartMedia adapter if you'd still like one to view/download your camera pics on the Axim. The entire CF part of the card is rested inside the Axim, and just the SmartMedia card is left partially sticking out. Much less bulky than the 4-in-1 adapters mentioned before.
