no. those hdds are for their own applications. you cant just take an hdd out of one device and expect it to work in another. :) you can however use a microdrive.

I'm a big fan of the saying, "Never say never". I've seen some pretty amazing things happen when people are encouraged to do something. There nothing saying it cannot be done... but I agree that it won't work "out-of-the-box".

I'm sure modifications could be done to make them work with other devices. A 1'' HDD sounds like the specifications of a microdrive. The life drive's only use what a 4gb? or something of that extent.

the easy answer is no it won't work.

the long answer is that they will work if they are not IDE locked via OEM firmware. Unless your microdrives are a few years old, they shouldn't work.

the other way is if you use an old ipaq that runs Linux with an IDE Cf interface.

yeah, most of the newer drives apear "fryed" when given a cf interface and connected. there is a perminint sector on the disk surface that tells the drive to do this.

Why make "stuff" impossible?

Stick with a micro drive. Make life easy.

And, get this, "Works out of the box!" Wowza! That's nice!
