I don't know if the problem is me, Minimo/Opera, Tengo, or what.

Here's the problem. In Minimo, I can't get anywhere. I can't switch to the keyboard, and the transcriber seems to select/highlight text on the page, rather than transcribe input into an input field. Opera is a little better (transcriber works), but I can't get the full keyboard to appear.

I don't know if this is related, but I tried free Tengo, and had similarly poor results (I didn't try Tengo with Opera). But once I had Tengo running, I don't think I could get back to the regular/default/full keyboard.

What determines when I can switch input choices? Is it application-specific?

Is Tengo overriding my options? I ended up having to do a hard-reset to completely uninstall Tengo. (That is probably my ignorance, also.) I couldn't select an input form other than Tengo, and presumably that is what prevented it from uninstalling successfully.

I've done a hard reset, and things are better. Tengo and Opera don't play well together. The input fields gather bonus spaces, which makes search engines a pita to use, since I have to go back and remove extra spaces in the middle of words.

I've given up on Minimo for the time being, and am sticking with Internet Explorer IE. I am still evaluating Opera on the PDA, which is what I use on the desktop.
