x51v Transcriber

On x51v (WM5.0), can't find a way to make transcriber input mode remain as capital letters. My wife's iPaq2210 (PPC2002) allows that when you open the transcriber and choose from caps, lower case, or numbers, it will remain in the selected mode until you change it. My Axim defaults to lower case mode after each value "recognized".

I've done my diligence, but find nothing obvious. I can barely make my signature in cursive (having printed in caps for 25+ years), and am "retrain-resistant"!

And speaking of "recognized", only Bill's "family" would form characters in the stroke sequences shown for most of the letters in recognition optimizer. Does anyone recommend a real transcriber that would allow ME to train IT how I print the letters, instead of vice versa? Don't want to swap devices with my wife!!

Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Transcriber has a training course that goes through all the letters and symbols I think. Go into Settings --> Input and check out the options.

I think it only caps the first letter because you shouldn't type in all caps. Only the first word in the sentence should be capped BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE YELLING. Might give out the wrong impression.

I DO know there is a tutorial showing you what keystrokes are needed to make caps, symbols, upper and lower case, and numbers. Check out the tutorial and go though the training course in the axim.

playa, thank you for response, but have exhausted these approaches.

Heard/acknowledged re: "yelling" in caps.... but my particular use is "stand alone".

You're right about the tutorial that shows me how THEY draw characters, etc... but I'm neither "gifted" nor "lefty".
Nearest work around (limited success) was for me to enter all characters in the Shorthand Recognition module.
Might just be me, but it seems a bit useless (in THIS application) for the "training" to coach the user, instead of the user "training" the machine!?!?
Maybe they redefined the term "recognition" when I wasn't looking.

But thank you just the same, I do appreciate your response.
