I downloaded Battery Pack and it shows up under File Explorer but when I tap and hold the other little files that are part of it show up but nothing opens up. When I tap on open (bottom left) it opens the window to type a path. How do I know what path? I'm trying to find the Help topic so I can read about a few things. I can't figure out how to have more than 1 row of icons on the today screen. I tried what Mike suggested to no avail. I also want to transfer free cell to a games folder using file explorer and I can't figure that out either. I'm really not a techno....so please bear with me and my ignorance!! Any help is greatly appreciated.

I went to Omega One and read some info and got the icon lines figured out. I'm still not sure about this file explorer and how to move something to another folder. Anyone...???????

Thanks

Hi Missc,

Okay, to move files in file explorer (Specifically to move something from Folder A to Folder B) follow these instructions:

General instructions for moving a file (Read below to figure out how to move the shortcuts in the "Programs" menu)

- Open "File Explorer"
- Browse to the Source folder
- Find the file you want to move
- Click and HOLD (do not let go!) on the file you want to move and you'll see a small red circle slowly draw. When this is complete, you will be provided with a pop-up menu that will give you various options (Cut, Copy, Create Shortcut, etc)
- Choose the option you want (Cut to cut, Copy to copy, etc! :))
- Now, browse to the destination folder where you want to place the file.
- Find white space where there are no other files, click and hold until that infamous red circle appears and select "Paste".
- That's it! You've just moved a file :D

Now, to move a shortcut

- Open "File Explorer"
- Browse to "My Device" --> "Windows" --> "Start Menu" --> "Programs"
- Now, find the file you want to move, and follow the instructions above to move it.
- Browse into your "Games" folder, paste it and you're done!!

If you don't have an icon, you can browse to whatever folder the executable files are in (Usually "My Device" --> "Program Files" --> "Program Folder"), follow the first instructions and create a shortcut, then, once the shortcut is created, select it again, cut and paste it into wherever you want it!

Now, to get more than 1 row of icons displaying on the screen, follow these instructions:

- Click "Start" --> "Settings"
- Select "Today"
- Look at the bottom and select the "Items" tab
- Select the "Program Bar" (make sure it, the "Battery Bar" and, if desired, "Calendar Bar" have check marks to the left if you want them to appear on the "Today" screen) and click on the "Options" button to the right.
- From here, set the drop-down box in "Number of lines" to 2 (or more!) and click "OK"
- Make *sure* that "Single Line Scroll" is off if you want to see the multiple lines without having to scroll first! :)

If you have any more questions, just let us know! We'll be GLAD to help!!

Nick

To hopefully help clarify the situation ... when you have the "Program Bar" > Options screen open, the icons you see at the bottom of the page are not working shortcuts. They are only placeholders to set up how you want the Today screen to look later.
You select a position on the rows of placeholders where you want a specific icon to be (to put them in the order that you want) and pick the program name from the drop-down list. The placeholder will change to the icon for the program you just chose.
Use "No Icon" to create a blank space at that location.
Complete as many rows as you want. Choose "Single line scroll" to display one row of icons on the Today screen, even if you have three or four rows configured. Uncheck single line scroll if you want all the rows to show (up to the number you chose in "Number of lines")
Tap OK, OK, and you should see your shortcuts on the today screen. These will execute when tapped.

The path info is only needed for program items (*.exe files) that do not automatically show up in the drop-down list, and that info is entered manually in "Custom priogram link".

Excuse me if you already know this info.

:D Hi Nick,

IT WORKED!!!!! Thanks so much. Now I hope I can get my files a little more organized. I finally feel like I'm getting the hang of this. I'm still working on the shortcut thing tho...I'll keep hanging in there and get back if I have any more questions. I appreciate your help!

So do you have to install something like Battery Pack to get the option of adding icons to the today screen?

Is Battery Pack freeware?

Thanks for the input!! ;)

It's listed in the review section of Aximsite. Cost is $9.99.
If all you want are "desktop" shortcuts, other apps will also do this, like "Launcher", which is donate-ware.
