Streaming music

Hi!

Streaming music seems like a good idea. But I have problems - the music stops or takes a long brake after a while. I have tried the following:

1) To stream via Internet from my office PC, using ORB.
2) To stream on my home network using PocketMusic player or Pocket Player.

So what am I doing wrong? Is my internet connection too slow? Is my home wireless network to slow? Did I encode the music files with too high bitrate? Did I set the buffers in the players too low?

I would be happy to hear from people who has made this work without hickups.

I am using an AximX51 520 mhz. My work computer has an upload speed of 7014 bits/sec. My home computer has a download speed of about 2500 bits/sec. The home wireless has a (theoretical) speed of 54MB/sec (but I suspect that the pocket PC only handles up to 11 MB/sec anyway). My wireless system handles "video on demand" streaming with no problems with my laptop. Also, it seems like the Axim handles streaming video better than audio.

best wishes

Trondis

Make sure you have your buffer set as high as possible. Music doesnt take that much bandwidth so it should stream with no problem. Make sure also that your axim is not in powersave mode.

My Axim crashes anywhere from 23sec to 1hr when streaming internet radio using GSPLAYER. The only way to unfreeze the Axim x3i is to push the reset button.

Why would POWERSAVE MODE cause it to crash when streaming audio?? Does this include AUTO MODE which I usually keep the Axim in to save battery power.

This does not happen when listening to MP3's off the SD card...just internet radio streaming. BTW, it is not the wifi signal which doesn't drop lower than 97% and I'm the only one using a T-1 when no one is in the internet cafe, or coffee shop.

If this is the case, I'll gladly turn Auto mode OFF and switch to Maximum Performance (400 MHz) to stop the crashing.
