This may be a bonehead question, but what exactly can one do with the Infrared port on any PDA? I've always wondered, is it a remote connection to your PC? I'm totally new to this, so bear with me please. Thanx!

If you have a printer with IR you can just place the ax near the printer and choose a file and beam it to the printer.
If you have a laptop with IR you can send files to the laptop or to the ax.
that's what i can come up with right now.

you can also transfer data between your phone.
i have been able to send contact from my phone to my axim

If your computer doesn't have an IR port, you can purchase IR adaptor for your PC. Then you can use it to transfer files. I have a desktop without the IR capability, so I purchased an IR adaptor erally cheap maybe $20AUD (roughly $9US) and it's great. But yeah to transfer files from axim to PC, or from axim, to mobile.
