What did I do now?
Need help again. Really, you guys are going to think I'm trying to break this thing.
Downloaded an ebook from amazon. Found out I had to also download M Reader for the desktop, too. Had to activate it. Had to reset my .NET passport password. Put files on Axim. Tried to open the ebook, the little waiting? circle thingy never stopped rotating. Shut Axim off. turned on, still on Mreader, tried to shut off again. It went white screen, waiting thingy, not rotating, just there. then axim couldn't be shut off, couldn't do a thing. Tried soft reset. Nothing happened. So I (was this bad?) took main battery off. It shut off, GET THIS, when it came back on, my, thus far, unchanged from the way it came, TODAY screen had 7 program icons on it!!! i haven't got any of those programs that make the icons on the today/home screen. They look great, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. then i deleted the ebook files, redownloaded and it told me to reactivate the M reader or I couldn't open it. I think because my .NET passport was different from when I activated it? Anyway, I did and all is fine now. Except where did the icons come from? also, has the wrong date to the left of the seven icins?! Today screen is correct with Tues, 6/17. This says Wed, 6/18. What is going on?
Thanks,
Bette

Wow, sounds like you are having too much fun, huh? ;)
So you got the ebooks to work, right?
As far as the icons go...weird. You don't have Battery Pack or PocketFacelift installed, do you?

If it does not work, just do a hard reset.
(power+reset)
or if it wont let tou do it that way, just take the backup and the main battery out.
I don't know what to tell ya about backup. Im thinkin if you back it up that you will backup the problem with it.;)

No, i haven't installed any kind of program that will make icons on the today screen. the only thing I can think, is maybe another program i've downloaded for another purpose has something? I'll upload a screen capture when I get home. It loaded 7 icons, don't understand rhyme or reason as to which icons it chose, either. It loaded 3 from new programs that I downloaded the night before(an HTML editor, Notepad and PocketCounter, IE, word, activeSync and email. Now, i just want to get rid of the icons andwrong date so I can load FaceLift. Yikes! color me confused!

Found out what created the icons!
It was bugging me! I looked through file explorer, nothing, except I did find and delete a file that said it wasn't a valid PPC app . hope I didn't screw something else up.
looked in programs, nothing.
looked in remove programs and found something called, HandyMasters HandyShortcuts, ahhhh, did a search on google, it's a free icon program.
no idea how it got there or why it chose to work when it did or why it only shows in Remove Programs. http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities...hortcuts.shtml
I'm deleting it, can't access it anyway. Going to get Facelift. It's freeware so I could always get it again anyway.
Thanks for your help!

sorry, I meant the handyShortcuts was free, since i was deleting it without trying it. Turns out I can't delete it, i've tried eveything. but i contacted the vendor and I'm going to look to see if there is uninstaller software that will get it off for me. i bought Facelift last night. it's great. and journal bar is fantastic! now if I could get rid of the HS dll file and get their icons off my screen.
Where can I find some directions on how to use Facelift? am I stuck with the words facelift at the bottom in huge letters and novosec on the side in big letters? Yuck!
Thanks,
Bette

To turn off the handyshortcut icons you need to go to>settings>today>items> you will then see handy shortcuts untick the box and they should be gone when you close and return to today screen - if not just try a soft reset (shouldn't be req.)

go to www.pocketfacelift.com and go into there forums, they have many cool people who post there verry nice full screen themes,(raynne,ceej,nmkid....)
just put the tsk file in the pocketpc my documetts folder.
Then on the axim go to start>>settings>>facelift. There you have many options. Just go ,to the page where it says you can select the today screen, and it will show up there.;)

Thank you so much everyone! They are gone, finally. Bernie, it worked, unchecking it on the today screen settings!
I had bought Deinstaller and deleted the dll file and they were still there. I was actually beginning to think a hard reset was in the future somewhere! Whew!
