Question Overclocking

I was wondering if these "overclocking" programs are safe. I have the Dell Axim X5 300mhz model, and I wanted some games to run more smoothly. I found a site:

Supposidly it overclocks your PPC to 500 MHZ, I didn't want to do anything to burn a chip or cause any damage so I thought I'd ask. Any replies here would be great, thanks.

theres tons of threads on this topic. i dont do it because there is no need for me and of course it will eat up more battery life and shorten the life of the cpu
