Help! I have just seen colleagues watch BBC News podcasts on their mobile phones and I would like to do the same on my Axim 51v, but it does not display MP4 files. How can I add this facility to my Axim?
Except if the MP4 uses h.264, in which case it'll be choppy.
Depends on the bitrate, really --- I use Encoded-for-PSP H.264 videos and they play without a hitch -- typically 768kbit for video and like 128kbit for audio? Not sure. Image Converter 2 default settings on "High", in case it matters to anyone.
Odd . . . FFMPEG usually chokeson that - I've tried with 300kbpss AVC (h.264) files before. Are you sure it;as not Xvid? Or are you using the illlegal CoreAVC plugin?

I'm quite sure it's not xvid.. IC2 only outputs H.264 videos. I mainly used old CSI eps I had for my Clie. And yes, I was using the "illegal" coreavc plugin. I purchased a copy of CorePlayer and happily using that now instead.
Download tcpmp program, which is free and plays mp4 very well...
You will quickly realise that you are dealing with a novice here! I downloaded tcpmp, and also a BBC Breakfast video podcast (which incidentally has a Quicktime icon representing the file). When trying to run the the podcast from within TCPMP I got an error message which said: "Player: MPEG4 AAC Audio decoder not included! It was removed from the official install package because of intellectual property considerations." Have I done something wrong? The picture will play after I 'OK' the message, but there is no sound.
Oh yeah, everyone forgot to mention that you have to download and install the un-official TCPMP AAC plug-in from Here:)
...and you're welcome.
Many thanks to you all, and especially to Truth! It wasn't all plain sailing but after a few curses and a few different approaches to downloading the aac plug-in and installing, it finally all worked:approve:
My next challenge is to get the Axim connected to my wireless network; between them, Dell and Orange have so far failed to find a solution.

Good luck with Orange....
Orange subcontracts their broadband and email services; getting an answer to anything is impossible (hence, I have left for a new mobile operator).
As for connecting the Axim; assuming that you are using a wireless router, there are two things to check:
The channel for the Axim is normally mid-range (11-15), change the channel on the router's management interface and see if that helps
Make sure that your router is allocating sufficient IP addresses. Normally the addressess are fixed and not released; if the router does not allocate enough, IP addresses are used quickly. This can also be changed in the router's management control panel
