my Axim arrived last night :)

Good morning folks.

My new x51v got here last night..
Wifi works beautifully all over the house and even on the back deck.. so the range is better than I had hoped for..

Well.. I like it a lot.. and now I am here to inflict questions on you folks

I need this thing for 2 things primarily.. I’m a server kinda guy.. I work on linux and unix servers all the time.. I usually use plesk or webmin web based server control panels.. Is PIE the best choice for these kinds of sites?

I prefer Firefox on my desktops and I have tons of favorites saved.. Any thoughts on syncing Firefox favorites to the Axim? Is there a wm5 browser that I can sync Firefox favorites to or am I going to be re-entering favorites into IE to sync to pie?

Also.. what do you folks think of mToken for ssh?
It seems to have the features I need.. but if anyone is aware of something better.. I would sure like to know before I buy mToken.

And lastly.. for now.. any thoughts on password managers? I use very long cryptic passwords on everything I do and remembering these is just not possible for this ole guy.

The Axim is a beautiful device.. I have to say it looks a tad fragile though and I have to learn not to skip it across parking lots like I did my old ipaq.. but it fits my pocket well.. so maybe it will survive.

Have a great day folks :)

Welcome to the forums!!

As far as password managers, there are a bunch! I use eWallet. They (and most others) have free trial periods.

Good luck!! Enjoy the new Ax! :approve:

LOL ... yeah, these devices don't take parking-lot skipping very well, I'll agree there. I've had about 4 Pocket PC's though - including an iPaq and I'd say my X50 is about as tough as any of them were. Put it in a leather flip-case or something and you'll find it's pretty durable.

I export my FireFox bookmarks as html and sync that. I set it as my home page in PIE and NetFront.

Several good ones. I have eWallet and SplashID. There is also FlexWallet and others, too. Just personal preference, I like SplashID.

Browse the My PDA sections here for more tips and such.

Are the leather flip case from Dell any good? i'm a bit worried about the magnetic flip, it won't damage the screen will it? (X)

I like Sena for cases and Roboform for a password manager.
