Can I view normal webpages on axim x51v?

Hi there I am planning to get an Axim after xmas and was just wondering if I am able to read normal webpages on the axim. I understand the pages are much larger than the screen can cope with but can I use the scroll bars to negotiate around the page as normal?

Also i wanted to one day be able to use the net to turn on my computer through Wake on Lan.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if this site loads properly (and that you can edit the contents in the fields) as I need it for my wake on lan to work? http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/woli.aspx

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For sure you can use your PDA for browsing the Internet. Of course some pages are greater than the physical screen on the PDA, but you can then scroll with the scroll bars. I use my PDA a lot for browsing the net.

Your needed page is usable with no problems.

While Pocket IE will display many websites well, the NetFront v3.3 browser would provide a much better experience and has many more features. I am waiting for the new release NetFront v3.4 which is supposed to have even more features and option packs.

If you use the True VGA mode on x51v, the scrolling need will be greatly reduced. Search the forum for 'VGA demystified'. You can also hook up the x51v to an external display using the Mirror mode (no additional software required).

I have used the wake-up on LAN feature on a personal computer using it from different Pocket PC. That was sometime back and it had worked well. It should work with x51v. I have also used the terminal services client to log on to my Windows XP Professional desktop computer (Pro version comes with Terminal Services built-in - needs to be enabled).

You might also look for PDA enhanced, or mobile, url's.

The experience is well worth it on the Ax.

why not just just the pocket PC version of the program from that webpage? http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/w...-pocketpc.aspx

Of course :) sorry i overlooked that , i previously used the online version as i had trouble with the standalone programs on the page. They only work when the computer is conencted inside the same LAN and not when its an external computer. I'll definitely give it a shot when I get the axim! Argh the wait is so long!!! Dell have puts up the prices again as its christmas :( i'm hoping the prices drop for january sale <fingers crossed>

Thank you all for help on the matter :) Nice to be part of the coomunity :)

Can you really use your Axim on an external diplay through the cable/cradle? That would be so cool! But wait wouldn't still have the same small resoulution?

Yes you can connect it to a standard PC monitor with at VGA cable, and view your PDA screen in a lager physical format. If you want to change the resolution you need some software to do the job, f.ex. the ozVGA - see here: http://oz.sciox.org/

Thou remark, that all this is only possible on the V models of the Axims.

The VGA cable is available her: http://www.pc-mobile.net/ax50.htm

In mirror mode, with a vga cable, you are restricted to a maximum resolution of VGA (640x480). The x50/51v has enough processing power to go up to SXGA (1280x1024) with Nyditot or XGA (1024x768) with Clearvue.

With MS remote display control you can show your axim screen on your PC screen via activesync. Make sure you are in true vga so that the display is nice and clear.

I hate side to side scrolling and then browsers that switch everything around in an attempt to get everything on the screen. I much prefer Nyditot Virtual Display. This is the greatest program ever for improving the browsing experience on tiny screens.
