My Axim is charging!

I received my new Axim today, and it's currently charging. How important is it to leave it charging for 4 hours like they say in the manual?
Then, once it's charged, can someone tell me what important updates I should perform? And the most important programs that I should install?

Yes, with all Li-Ion batteries you need to charge according to the manufacturer's specifications on the INITIAL charge. Without charging the entire 4 hours, you will lose some battery life in the long run.

A trick you can do if you'd like....is to stick the battery in the spare battery charger on the back of the cradle (assuming you got the Advanced Axim with cradle). With battery in the secondary slot, you can stick the Axim (with no battery) in the main charging slot and use it off the AC power. That way the battery won't be getting drained, and you can go ahead and play with your Axim. :)

Is it okay to take the battery out of the axim after it has been half-charged and put in the spare battery charger in the cradle?

Did you have the battery installed on the Axim at the time? Or did you simply have the Axim (without battery) plugged in?

If you didn't have the battery on it, you'll be fine. If you DID have the battery on it, then you won't notice any battery problems in the immediate future.....but it might lose it's charge quicker down the road (compared to one that had a proper initial charge).

Nope, these batteries do have chips in them that are supposed to stop them from either not charging enought or too long. Still if you can wait, its a good idea to wait the 4 hours to make sure you axim is charged completely.
