Hi there, being a student, I was wondering if there was anything cheap available which has a full map of London, UK? Functions like a post code finder would be nice. I dont have a car at the moment hence I dont want to invest in a GPS reciever so I'm perfectly happy with a piece of software which has a static map so I can see the path I need to take? Would be nice rather than having a road map in my pocket. Has anyone sampled any software like this? most of the software in the GPS section seem expensive to try / requires a new sd card and i'm scared of being laughed at if i post my question there :)

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have you considered Microsoft's AutoRoute? Mine came bundled with Pocket Streets and Trips allowing the user to export maps to the ppc. This makes the system highly configurable to the user's need and, if you go GPS at a later date, can also be used with a GPS receiver.

A-Z also do a PPC version and if I remember right it wasn't too expensive

I've had a look around and AutoRoute 2007 apparently doesnt come with pocket street anymore :( the last version of pocket street was 2005. A friend of mine has it and tells me that its only used as a basic map and that you cant plot a route etc (which would be a nice feature). I guess I'll have to purchase a known GPS software .

Will try the A-Z too, the screenshots look quite nice and better looking than the lines on pocket streets 2005.
