Can I remove it? I could not find any tweaks in Today screen, Tweaks2K2 or themegeneratorCE.

Is there any way I can have more screen real-estate by giving-up something that is mapped to hardware buttons? Maybe a freeware solution?

you can put anything on you handtop in start/settings/ system/today. if you don't want it on handtop uncheck it, especially if you are running TPA that do the same, or duplicate what the today screen does.

yes, you can remove it. I was searching for the exact thing a few weeks ago.
there is a freeware called vjtoggletoday.

You kinda have to read through the forum to find the instruction.
Since this is a freeware, you have to do some work of reading
