I use two notebooks: one belongs to my company (CO), one belongs to me (ME). Both are on my network at work and at home. I maintain my business appointments and personal appointments on CO (easier that way). But I maintain all of my personal software, including my AXIM installation files and apps, my Audiobooks, etc, on ME. And, I synch back from AXIM to ME. I also plan on synching some email, tasks, contacts, etc from ME to AXIM.
Here's the question: Does anyone see any problem with a second one-way synch from CO to AXIM of appointments, so that I can maintain a combined calendar?
Nope, I do it all the time! I have a desktop at home with XP and a laptop with W2K Pro. Sync to both just fine. Only one can sync email, but contacts, calendar, tasks, all sync to both just fine.
I do this all the time. Let me explain. I have a home computer loaded with outlook xp and it is full of personal emails, contacts and notes. I also work in the medical field and my computer at work uses outlook 97 and is filled with very confidential emails, notes, calendar events, etc. I never dreamed the two could be combined, but the axim completely changed my life (honestly).
Now, I first synced my ax with home computer and outlook xp. Then I went to work and installed active sync (IT department said it was o.k.). However, since this is the since this is mostly confidential data I just told it to sync ONLY the calendar. Then I dragged a few nonconfidential notes to the ax that I would need. Then I loaded the ax with all my docs and excel files and powerpoints from work. I do not sync games, codewallet, or any other apps; only the calendar. Then when I sync at home all these data are now synced with my home computer and my home outlook xp calendar is loaded with ALL my appointments and my life is now connected via the pocket pc. It is now my essential bridge to combine my very busy schedule between personal and work and no confidential info is let out. For years I had to hand input my office schedule into the palm Vx I was using, but now my two lives are seemlessly synced and I always know what is coming up. No more calling my wife to see if we are busy on a certain date, etc. This thing is great. Hope that helps.
Yes, you can do that, and I do, but the limit is only ONE email account, so you can't sync with two. However, you can download mail directly from multiple POPs if you set them up, I think. You just can't sync them with more than one PC.
This may seem like a mindless question, but I need to sync my Axim with two different computers. Nothing fancy, just contacts and calendar, to maintain sync between the three devices (Ax, Comp1, Comp2). Can I do this with two different docks and Active Sync?

that's what i do at the moment... If you find out it's impossible then I'm going to feel like Wylee Coyote looking down

It could be one dock if you feel like lugging it around. I have a travel cable that I used to establish, now I use wireless to sync with the work computer..

I sync w/ two laptops all the time. One (personal laptop) is usually through BT. The work laptop is usually through a cradle or a travel cable. I haven't tried wireless sync.
Maybe I should be more specific. I am trying to figure out how to sync my calender and contacts on both my desktop computer, my personal laptop, and my x50v. Does anyone know if this can all be done wirelessly over my home network? Neither my desktop, nor my laptop have bluetooth or IR functions. So, I am looking to do this over my home wireless network.
I am currently syncing my x50 wirelessly with my desktop, but I have to sync via the cradle with my laptop. I would absolutely love to do both wirelessly.
I also have another question. Does activesync prioritize the direction of syncing if I select the option to sync in both directions (ie. computer to axim and axim to computer)? In other words, if I update my calender on my axim during the day and then I also update my calendar on my laptop without syncing the two, then I come home and sync laptop with ax and then ax with desktop (in that order) will the update that I made on my laptop as well as the update that I made on the ax show up on all three?
Sometimes it is more convenient to just update my calendar directly on my laptop during the day while other times the ax is more convenient. Any help is appreciated:approve:
I've never tried the wireless sync. But if they are both on the wireless network, I guess you could set different times. I think you may want to connect via cable to do the set up.
AS will look at the most recent version of a file, schedule, note, task, etc. and overwrite the earlier version. You can set the priority for conflicts.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I got it to work. I can use my axe as the "middle man" between my desktop and laptop wirelessly. I just had to follow the instructions at the link below and set up two different partnerships with my desktop and laptop. I only use it to sync my calendar, contacts, notes, and files. It works great for that purpose. I just sync with my laptop 1st when I get home and then sync with the desktop.
