I live in Canada and I need access to the internet from my Axim. I have heard bluetooth isn't ready in canada yet. What should I buy and how do I actually get internet access (email)?

Example - should get a modem card and dial in from a phone (if so which is a good modem card)?
If a CF card works which one do I buy and how does it actually work - do I have to near a network or something.

I used to own a blackberry - so the email came automatically.

I am pleased this is a newbie forum because my hunch is that this is a newbie question?

Thank you in advance.

Dan

Dan,

Where in Canada do you live? Rogers (western) has two phones, the Sony Ericcson T68i and the Nokia 6301i are both bluetooth enabled.

From what I've heard, the market is going to be expanding rapidly over the next few months as well. I'm still debating on dropping the $200 - $300 CDN to get either phone or to wait until there are more options available.

Also, if you have a provider such as Fido, you can get *any* unlocked GSM phone and just pop your SIM card into it, and it will work perfectly. I did that with the Nokia Communicator and it worked without a hitch, as *long* as the phone is unlocked, you'll be fine.

As for cables (which will work with almost ANY model of ANY phone out there), I know there are some in development for the Axim, and I expect them to be available very, very soon!

But I'd rather go bluetooth, in all honesty... and given enough time, bluetooth support in Canada should be happening rather soon.

Other options are getting a wireless modem, a Sierra air card, or something similar to that. Let me know where you live and I might be able to give some better suggestions. :)

HTH,

Nick
