Seagate 8GB Microdrive

I just received mine from Frys.com, and I’m very happy. However, I do have some questions…

1. How do I pull it out? Not that I really need that, but supposing I want to load files directly on my PC card reader, or just to exhibit the marvel of miniature technology, or to get the serial number for registration... The CF card I used so far has a lip where you can hook your finger nail and pull it out. If I use tweezers, I’m afraid I would scratch the sticker, or who knows what else.

2. If the capacity is 8.0GB, why does the Axim show the card as only 7.4GB? I soft-reset the PDA, but still the same.

Thanks all!

I put a piece of packing tape on the end (it's a lot little thicker than scotch tape) and use that to pull it out. as far as the availalbe size goes check out this link

Mine only showed 7.43 Gig too & I wasn't very happy about it. My 1G CF card shows 975 Meg. You wouldn't think you would loose that much. I ended formatting my card to FAT32 & did recoup some of the lost space.

Another thing that I noticed is that my card is really slow when installed in my Axim. I copied a 25 meg file from the Micro drive to my SD card & it took forever. This isn't just an isolated case. This has happened to me before. I am wondering if my Micro drive is defective. However it does play movies just fine. If not then I am really unhappy with these Micro Drive. I can handle that added battery drain

Thanks for your answers.

I realized after I posted my questions that the memory size issue is a never ending story. Good idea to format the card, so if I'll manage to extract the card I'll do that.
