Advice for a newb regarding axim purchase..

I've decided that a pda might be of some use in my job. I work as a project manager/engineer in the commercial construction field. I've followed the Dell axims for some time now and am most likely going to purchase one. My question is which one would work best for me? I know the X30 with the 624Mhz processor scored very well in all reviews and owners have been more than pleased with it's performance. I can buy these on eBay for a fairly reasonable price compared to a new axim. Dell no longer offers the X30 but instead offers the X50 and 51's I believe. Is there any advantage to going with a new Dell over the older X30 or is it mostly cosmetic? Is there any usable difference between the new operating system versus pocket pc 2003? My thought is that the X30 would be a fine choice for me but if there are other opinions or suggestions otherwise I'd be delighted to hear them. By the way, I'll be using this to manage the typical contact list and would like to know if there's any good project management software available for the pocket pc platform. Thanks in advance.

OK, the X51 runs WM5. Not sure what OS the other one supports. I am an engineer working in the field quite often. Can the Ax help work in the field, sure. Depends on what you want to do. I use it for some spreadsheets (safety reports/checklists, etc). As it will only get email from my POP3 accounts right now via WiFi, it's limits my functionality while on the road (potential need for a smartphone, WM Phone or BB).

All in all, good tool. I don't know of any project management software on the mobile platform. What are you looking for?

well, from my perspective, unless the x30 is dirty cheap... I would not get it... much like a car (w/o a odometer), it ages with use and time--the battery esp. But X30 is a good machine, so it might last longer then expected.
That said, as long as x30 has the wm2003, you should be ok.
As for calender and contact, I think the default programs suck, but some people may like it. I use PocketInformant and PocketBreeze to overcome the disability of the default programs. So, that's another thing, make sure PI and PB (or other PIM software) supports wm2003.
PI has some type of Project Mang tool that you can use... you should check out their site.
Good luck.
