Just placed the order for Axim 5 Advanced

Just ordered the Axim 5 advanced PPC 2003 with extra battery (3400 mAH)
Let the learning begin. I wonder what the delivery date will be.
Hope all goes well.

Question: What is the best way to install software from my laptop to Axim? USB or infraRed?

Congratulations, you will be very happy with your new purchase. Dell should give you a delivery date (usually several weeks), but expect it way sooner.

To answer your question, I prefer usb to infrared. The infrared on the axim is weak, plus I like to be able to move and use my axim while I sync, install software, transfer mp3's, etc. (actually, I now sync wirelessly via wifi...it's very cool).

IR is a bit shakey so I'd go for syncing through the USB. But it will actually denpend how well your laptop reacts with you Axim. So try out both and see w/c way you prefer.

On the DELL site under "order status" it now says (03/07/03):

Dell Order # XXXXXXXXXXXX (real number here)

Manufacturing: all blank

International Transit: Bill Cut Date: Yesterday

Local despatch: all blank

Housebill: XXXXXXX (real number here)

What does it mean?

That is much different than what we get in the states.... perhaps it means that your Ax is getting ready to ship? *crosses fingers*

From what I can work out the "order status" page we get here in Australia is very different to the one they get in the US. I ordered my AXIM on June 18th and my order status is the same as yours. It hasn't changed in a week. I rang DELL and there is a delay in production due the release of MW2003 so things are on hold. My interpretation is as it goes through each stage the relative info appears. If you have nothing next to "order status:" (third row it the first section) then it doesn't look good. I don't think it has shipped.

I will add that this is the first time I have ordered anything from DELL through their web site, so this is the blind leading the blind.

Even though I haven't been here at aximsite.com long myself, I will also welcome you. SO WELCOME !!!

Interesting thing is they took the money out of my bank account the day following I placed the order.
Wonder where that stands legally??
Not too concerned. I would have thought that when they take the money they would have to ship within days and not months.

Anyhow, we just have to wait.
