the first thing that you need is a static IP for your desktop. then you should enable remote desktop connection from your computer and also need to configure your firewall settings etc...

juts run the terminal client and enter your IP address then you re in... :approve:

terminal client,... you think i can delete it? Or should i just keep it?

I mean it's got no icon so it looks like a broken program that the WM can't find.

Just curious.

Also... about making your IP address static? Uhm any pointers..

THanks in advance..

If you had a vpn server on the inside of your home network you could forward vpn traffic to it using Dynamic DNS and then use the terminal service client to connect to the appropriate system on the inside. I suppose you could simply forward terminal services to the system you'd like to connect to instead of using a vpn connection, but a vpn connection might be more secure.

All of that is fine and dandy, but first you gotta make sure you have XP pro or you're outta luck.

Yep, very good point. If you have XP home you won't be able to use the TS client for remote desktop.

...unless Box mentions the 3rd party app Logmein, so ignore my above comment. Just to clarify, though, XP Home by default does not support a TS client.

Hey Breley,
Everything you were saying is correct, :approve:
I just thought Logmein was great way for non techies to connect easily.
And it has nothing really to do with TS.

No, that's great. I was just being facetious.:D

Though, my head's still aching from that Linux head-thwacking you gave me with the virtual stick...

Can I use my PDA to remotely access my PC?

Yes. With LogMeIn you can also access your PC from any web-enabled Pocket PC device. The device will need to be running Pocket PC 2000/2002, Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC or Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition for Pocket PC.
So it looks like the target system installs the software, and the user can log in via a browser, not a TS client as you indicated.
