I was wondering if its possible to send a text message to a cell phone over pocket AIM, just like you can with a desktop PC AIM

If you are using that old version of AIM, v2.0 I think, then no, you cannot do that. That has been out of development for a while now. Maybe some third party AIM clients can but i'm not aware of any.

Whoa, I didn't know you could do that with the Desktop AIM!

Anyway, you could use a free email to SMS service, such as the one google provides.

Even some carriers provide it, like cingular is something like <phonenumber>@cingular.com

and such...
