Question I have a few more question before I buy.

Keep in mind I have never experienced Pocket PC's or PDA before except for going to best buy or circuit city to play around.

1: Is there a way to format and start completly over like a PC?

2: What is the difference between soft and hard reset. This might answer my first question cause I hear alot of " Accidently hard reset and lost data"

3: I also hear you can leave the thing plugged into the cradle and it won't hurt it but I heard somewhere that it is not good. Just plain and simple, can I keep it in its cradle for 3-4 days on a regular basis. Or overnight everynight? I dunno what the situation will be when I get it, I just wanna know if I could do these things.

4: Can you put a camera attachment on the Axim?

5: How do games play on the Basic. I heard the Axim plays games great, but rarely specified if it is on the 300 or 400.

6: I hear of people using this as a alarm clock when one is not available, so do you leave it on all night or in its cradle or what?

7: How can this price be true? I mean, this is the kinda price like, I know what I am ordering and I am still expecting a black and white PDA which graphical intensity is narrowed to contacts. Its litterally about 90$-100$ more than like, A Game Boy Advance SP, and games is just like...1 out of tons of things. Wow, I am glad I didn't buy a SP. From what I see the game selection of Pocket PC's is great. Oh Lord, I am getting myself excited.

Thanks for your time, this probably won't be the last questions knowing me, butt where I am at it is bedtime, so thanks for your time.

1) Yes, its called a hard reset. Its as simple as pushing down the right 2 buttons for a long enough time. You can also back up your pda to your pc or a storage card to bring it back after a hard reset, especially if it totally freezes on you and screws up (ussually a soft reset fixes this, but it can happen..).

2) Soft reset is like resetting your pc. Nothing is loss, and it brings it up fresh with all the programs you had up closed.

Hard reset is a reformat basically, bringing it back to how it was the day you opened it. This has to be done when you upgrade your rom or OS, or if it just dies on you or something (rare).

3) Keep it in the cradle as often as possible. This battery has no memory, you want to keep it as high as you can as long as you can. Like if you were storing it over the summer youd want to keep it plugged in all summer for best results.

4. Yes, there is a compact flash slot, there are cameras that go in there. They are semi expensive though. the slot can also be used for memory in addition to the SD slot which can also be used for memory (but not devices).

5) Most games play great. Some of the more intensive 3d games or ones that just have a lot going on will play slowly or skip though. Youd want to try out demos of such games before buying them to see how they run.

6) Yeah, theyd have to leave it in the cradle or plugged into an ac adapter.

7)The axim was by far the most value for the money in a long time and set a new standard in the ppc world. Its a great price. To be fair though, a new competitor has arisen in the hp 2210, though thats 400 dollars, or 270 with a student discount. Its smaller and slightly faster. However the axim is still a great machine and worth the money.

And about gba- gba is still a great system, its much better for games that require a dpad (the dpad on the axim works fine, but isnt that great). However most games use the stylus and that is a great control system/

I use my Axim for an alarm clock. Basically you set the alarm and turn the Ax of. It turns itself on when the alarm goes off. You don't have to keep it plugged in (although I always plug mine in overnight) and it doesn't need to be on. Stop Time is an excellent alarm program, if you are looking for one :).
