HELP!!! my data got wipe out!
OK, I'm seriously desperate to get back all my datas, this is what happen, I followed the instruction on performing a soft reset before installing the full version of BatteryPack, once i did it, my whole datas were gone!(as if it was a hard rest) All my apps, games, and datas were all GONE!
When I synch it with my computer, it recognised my device as 'GUEST', however i still see my pocket PC icon in my computer.
What should I do? Is there any way to synch it back from my computer? (I did not do any backup)
It's nightmare to me now, please help!
I am leaving my device as it is now till someone guide me for the next step as I am afraid of doing the wrong thing again.

Been there; done that.. The problem is that the "name" of your PPC has been changed, so ActiveSync see's the PPC as a "Guest". Try renaming the PPC to the name listed in your ActiveSync, (the old name before the reset) and try again.

thanks for the response, but is there a way to find out the previous name of my PPC?(I really have forgotten what name I've used to define the device)I just tried renaming to my name but my computer does not recognise it, so i reckon it must be thw wrong name.
Thanks

the file folder on your desktop should say the name of the device before the word 'my documents'...at least mine does.

it's okay to make that mistake vt125....the fun part is learning even though it can be a pain in the butt sometimes.
I was lucky back when I was first learning about my Axim that someone had told me to back up my data and practice doing a hard reset so I'd know what to do if I ever ran into a hard reset situation (willingly or not). If I hadn't received that advice, I could have very easily gone through the same thing you just did.

hi thanks for the encouragement, i agreed totally with you. I did pick up alot from many kind and helpful people like you, that's why i rated this aximsite the best, have been visiting this site every day.
Anyway about the backup, i tried backup in my PPC but failed at about 90% of copying files, attempted twice, still no luck. So I did backup from PPC to my notebook using activesynch. It was successful, but i just couldn't find my backup file.
I read somewhere from this forum that i just need to type *.stg to search for it, i did just that, still cannot locate them anywhere from all my available drives. Is there something i miss?
any suggestion anyone? Thanks!

Hi thanks for the quick response, but I am confused...first of all, still cannot locate the files following the directories given.
The worrying thing is, now i see two different names - one on my desktop, the other one appears on my ASync. The one on my desktop is the shortcut icon 'My Document' which was the old one, the ASynch is the newly created one after i crashed my axim.
Will there be a conflict? (still able to do synching though)
Will like to delete the old one, any suggestion how to re organise them? will appreciate any inputs, thanks.
