Everyone knows it, but the little "X" in the upper right corner doesn't actually close programs but just minimizes them. I've been using PocketNav that allows the shotdown function via their Lightning Bolt. The Switcher Bar from Dell offers something similiar (if not exactly the same).

Does anyone know of a program that will actually perform the "shutdown program function" from that programs' Title Bar?

Thanks for the help!

KC

Look at WISBar or ICBar (based on WisBar code). They give you a menu on the title bar that shows running apps and lets you close listed apps. It also, as you asked, will actually close apps that are in the foreground when you "X" them.

These are both very easy to find. Put the name of the software into google.com - should pop right up.

Also do some searches on this site - you'll find a number of threads on the subject.

Gigabar.com shows a small icon for all running tasks in the top bar. To close them, just tap-hold, then select close. It also shows memory status, battery status, date over time, screen captures, gives access to all PPC internal functions, and it's skinable. Because it resides in the top bar, it takes no screen realestate. It's fully configurable. Did I mention it's free?

Here's the down side -- it does take a while to learn how to use it. If it's too complex for you, or you don't like the user interface, try GigaTask. GigaTask has some nice features also, but it's not free.

Being cheap, Wisbar and ICbar have the added benefit of being free. :)

Try pocket plus it changes the X into a close button and offers a few other nice things like a repeating alarm. You can get a trial copy here
