USB 2.0 will only benefit you if 1) your device specifically states that it uses USB 2.0 or 2) you have MANY USB devices.
2.0 is fully compatible with 1.0 and 1.0 with 2.0 just 1.0 will run at 11mbps as opposed to 2.0 at 450mbps or something like that.
If you have many USB devices and they are all active at the same time, for example USB Mouse + KB, axim cradle, digital camera, USB sound card, USB Tv Tuner card and these are all on one USB hub/controller then you get 11mbps being shared between alot of devices and you get some really bad speeds.
