Stupid question about OS

Why when I close program it actualy does not exit?
I have to use switcher to terminate the program.

am I doing somehting wrong?

Its one of the lovely attributes of the OS. thats why there are 3rd party apps. Not sure if 2003 is different or not.

Your not doing anything wrong, this is a "Feature" of the OS.

Microsoft wanted to believe its own hype that their product would run great even if you had 25 programs running in the background... this "Feature" allows you to leave files open for fast access. What they should have done was add a minimize button and correctly use the close button.

You can download ICbar or WisBar to correct this, and I would suggest either of these products anyway as they alow you to add or remove buttons from the Taskbar.

I think you can find both in the downloads section of Aximsite.com

Sadly, 2003 is not different. Still need a 3rd party app. Or... you could use the built in 'Switcher Bar.'
