MS Reader problems
Hello,
On a previous thread, I requested help on transferring eBooks from my PC to my Ax. I have succesfully done that. When I try to open the books on my Ax, which open easily on my PC, I get a "Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access the book." message. eBooks.com trouble shooting section states that this problem occurs because I need to update my MS Reader for my Pocket PC. The version on my PC is 2.1.1 (Build), which is the most current one according to the MS Reader site, and the one on my Ax is 2.2.1 (Build 3052). The MS Reader site has a PPC version numbered 2.2.2. eBooks states I need to delete the old version and download the newest version on my PPC. Is this what I should do and will downloading a pre-installed software be easy? Help please.

I had the same problem. Delete the PPC version once you have the latest desktop version and it is activated. Then download and load the PPC version and activate it. It took a couple of tries for me to get mine to work.

teasip,
How do I delete the MS Reader version that came pre-installed on my Axim. It is not offered in the remove programs area. Thanks for the reply.

Me again, I just went to Help from the Start menu on my Axim and it specifically indicated that programs that came with the Ax could not be deleted. Does downloading the most recent version of MS Reader replace the one I currently have, or am I gonna have two versions taking up valuable space on my PPC. Now I'm getting frustrated (But I still like my Ax!).

I had a problem reactivating my Microsoft Reader after I had done a hard reset. I was getting the error that the reader could not open the E-Book even though it showed up in the library. I also was showing two reader help files in the library. I contacted Microsoft and finally got it fixed.
If you have installed the reader in the storage memory or on a flash card you will have to uninstall it. Also uninstall the Microsoft activation then do a warm reset. When you install it again, choose the default directory as your option. You will probably see the Axim ask if you want to overwrite files, choose yes. To see if you have the newest reader loaded, open it and go to "Settings" and choose "about Microsoft Reader". You should see that you have version 2.2.2.
When I installed it to the storage memory or to the flash card, I was not overwriting the older version of the Reader and hence I could not open my books up.
I hope this helps at least a little.
