I've been working with Windows NT and NTFS since I guess the mid/late 90's, and am definitely convinced that the NTFS is far superior to the FATxx filing system. Why can't we have NTFS on our PDA's?
To the post, Manufacturers asume 512Mb to be 512000000000 bytes (i hope I have enough zeros). However, our software takes that number and calculates 1Mb to be 1024 kb, 1kb = 1024 b. This way you seem to experience a loss in storage, however 487Mb sound just about right. (Don't forget the overhead. Windows does a good job hiding the overhead data, Mac OS makes the same few files visible, if you delete it the darn folder may stop working).
