Once you install ActiveSync on your desktop PC, plug in the cradle or sync cable, and then connect the Axim, ActiveSync will copy your email messages over to the Axim (along with contacts, notes, appointments, etc). In ActiveSync, you can go to the "Options" and indicate that you only want messages from the past x days, limit the number of lnes in a message, and whether to include file attachments or not.

Mr. Format,
You are not alone. Email is hanging me out to dry here and I haven't a clue how to go about solving it.
So far I have:
1. Removed and reinstalled 3.5 then 3.6 more than 3x's.
2. Hard reset numerous times.
3. Downloaded the D-pad patch (no problems there).
4. Downloaded USB Driver R55367.EXE which I thought might smooth things out. NOPE.

It's been a week and would LIKE TO SYNC EMAIL!!! (sorry, bit of a tension relsease there.)

I still get the following error message poping up when Inbox tries to sync. "WCESMgr.EXE".
This stumps me. :( I've run through numerous forums, but haven't found this topic.

If Inbox is unchecked, it sync's all other catagories like silk.
I'm not technically gifted but everything EXCEPT email sync's both directions.
ANY help would be humbly welcome.
Many thanks.

I'm not certain but I think it's hotmail that's the culprit here. I've read some posts on it but can't remember in which forum. Have you searched for "hotmail" to see if you can find those threads?

When I try to sync any message from hotmail, all I receive is the header. I cannot get the body of the mail. But I do have a POP 3 ISP so hotmail is the only address I can't receive.

Someone else will be able to help you with a better explanation I'm sure, but in the meantime do a search on this site for "hotmail" and you'll better understand the problem.

If you haven't already tried it I would suggest searching Google for your error message. Google can be fantastic when you have a specific error message to search for because you will often get immediately to helpful pages since the search is so specific. Just be sure to type the exact message and enclose it in quotes when you search. If a web search doesn't do the trick, don't forget to search Google Groups.

Sorry if this is something obvious (to you) that you have already tried, but I still talk to lots of people that don't think of using Google in this way. It solved a wacky problem yesterday when I was trying to sync for the first time and has been of great help many times in the past.

Thank you.
Google was the last location checked. I'll give it another go. For hotmail I only use that for spam and only access through IE. I'm not sure where a connection would be with Activesync. Am I missing the forest because I'm looking at the trees here?

The rumors are correct about aximsite.com, you folks have a good spot here.
Cheers

Donna,
Thanks for the information.
But I don't download any hotmail from that account into Outlook. Hotmail is only for Spam and those times when they require an "active email account".
The body of some emails come through but the prob is not all the emails come coming in, it either shuts down automatically in the middle of sync'ing around 387 email. Settings are for 60 days, 300 lines and 300k in attachment. (safely beyond what I would guess getting).

I must be missing something simple here.
If you have any other idea, please by all means fire away. It's greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Donna,
Is my logic wrong here?
This is the process I'm following.
1. Install V3.6 from the support.dell.com site and follow their instructions. (Does is make a different if the Companion CD is not installed or not? And V3.6 is gotten off a website?)
2. Hook up UBS cable to PC and insert Axim into cradle. S/W will detect the Axim.
3. Set up a Partnership, click finish and the initial Sync begins.
4. On 2nd sync, set settings for catogories (Inbox 20days, etc...)
5. Click Sync on the Axim or Activesync GUI.
6. Jump for joy that is all works w/out a clitch.

I think I'm doing 1~5 right and am dying to get to #6.

Hmmm, why don't you try paring this down to the last few days. Go into your inbox and clean out whatever's not necessary. I've never pushed my syncing of my inbox that far (I have it to sync 3 days, 200 lines and to mark attachments for downloads), so I have no idea if your problem is related to time it's taking to do all that heavy syncing...

Sorry I can't be of more help to you. Hopefully somebody will be better able to work out a solution for you.
