I thought that a fast way of moving data to my X5 would be to copy the data to my CF card (spreadsheets, MP3's, etc) and then just stick the card in my unit. Turns out however when I tried it, that the computer registers the CF card as being write protected!? (Even though it's empty) Is this not an acceptable way to move data over???

It should work. I use a card reader all the time. You do have to be careful, though, because not all files can be simply copied and read by the Ax. Excel and Word, for example, go through a conversion process in the move through Activesync, and although Word files will open, there are some reports of problems with the files and with lost formatting when copied back to the PC. MP3 files should copy directly.

If you have no data on the card, try formatting them on the PC and then copying the files to them. That may undo the write protect flag.

Another thing learned. So Excel and Word files should be synced then cut and pasted to a card. MP3's are fine using a card reader. Although my card reader accepts only CF and SM, so if I want to put MP3's on my SD card, I have to cut and paste from the CF card to the SD.
