Windows Media Player
Hi,
1.) How do I get Windows Media Player to play .avi files. It won't, is there something I can download that will allow me to view .avi file extensions? The videos are just little clips.
2.) If I go to Start and Games there is a folder within Games called "icon." I think at one time there was a file that I had downloaded, but then I didn't like the game. So, how do I delete the icon folder? It won't do a right click (or a tap and hold)? Thank You!!!!! :)

WMP does not support AVI. You'll need another player such as Pocket MVP. You'll also need to make sure that you didn't use a codec that is not supported by a PPC player. My digital camera makes avi's using the MJPEG codec which cannot be played on any Pocket PC. What I would do is follow this thread for a better solution.

I have a program called PQV 3.0 that I use to view my AVI files. That program also does a much better job of viewing pictures too. It costs $19.95, but it was well worth it to be able to easily view my movies from my camera. You can get a fully functional 30 day trial of the product. Try it for yourself and see if you like it.

Where did you get the AVI file? That source should tell you what codec you used and if there is a download for that. There are other AVI programs you can use and some of those might have the codec built into them.

Well you still need to figure out where it came from. Who encoded it and what they used.

you can us Divx Player to view avi movies
i've attached a program that checks video files and figures out what codec you need to play it and whether you have it or not. its very useful.
Also, just curious, is it just me, or does WMP drain the main memory? cause i have Battery Bar thing and before playing mp3s it shows 14 megs free and after a while it goes down to 10 or 11 megs. did anyone else notice the memory drain with WMP?
