Question Cheap PDA Recommendations

My brother needs a good cheap PDA for work. He mostly needs Outlook capability. I've got an x51v and love it, but that's too much for him I think. I'm not familiar with x5 and other brands so I don't know what to recommend.

He doesn't mind buying used.

I had an x5 before x51v and thought it was a good buy for the price. If you didn't want the outlook feature I would get you down lower in price to a zire 31 there really inexpensive but no outlook feature.

X5s aren't bad. Just my opinion though.

You might want to look at the IPAQ rx1950. It runs WM5.0, is WIFI enabled (no Bluetooth) and includes all the usual applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. I have one and its pretty zippy and reliable - although running data intensive applications like SKYPE can lock it up.

You can probably find a used or remanufactured model for under $200 by googling it.

What does "cheap" mean?

I would go with the X5, I've had mine since it first came out, and it's still my #1 device. You can get them pretty cheap too. (Less than 100$)

I think he's looking at less than $200, preferably. Also, he didn't mention WiFi, but I think I'm going to recommend it. Is it possible to get something with WiFi at less than $200? I'll look into the rx1950.

I bought my refurbished rx1950 online more than a year ago for $169. You may have to do some searching but you can probably find one for less than $200. I would not recommend the rx1950 to someone who wants to be a power user - it just does not have the memory to accommodate some of the things I want to do with it. But it surfs the internet really well and performs the routine tasks really well. I think its a pretty good entry level pocket pc, and it's nice that it has WM5.0 on it since many entry level users are probably not going to understand why memory gets wiped when the battery is depleted.

I have used the X30h for several years. There is one on ebay right now with additional accessories, for a $175 Buy Now price. The 624mhz model is fast enough for everything I do, and I use Word and Exel documents a lot in my business. The other reason I like the X30h is Wi-fi, bluetooth, and is SMALLER than the X5, so it fits easier in my pocket. Just my opinion, however....
