I use the keyboard to do most of my input. Most of the time it works fine, but recently I have tapped a letter and it will record a space instead of the letter that I tapped on.

Does any body know why this happens and how I could fix it?

It doesn't just happen in pocket word, but also in other applications

while I'm on this band wagon, when I've been typing in excel, the letters will go in to the box, but sometimes the predictive text box will start at the second letter (and therefore suggest inappropriate words)

any clues?

Because I don't use the keyboard, I don't know if this'll be much help, but have you tried realigning the screen?
