I'm just a novice but one problem I had with WEP might be causing your problems too. My router can transmit 4 different keys in WEP but my Belkin range extender can only transmit static WEP (one key only). My Axim X30 expects 4 keys so I tried setting all 4 to the same word. The X30 happily communicated with the router but would not talk to the Belkin so having all 4 words the same is not the same as static key WEP. The X30 just doesn't lock on to static WEP.

Also I don't know about the X3 but there is something a bit flakey in the X30 as it sometimes fails to lock on but will do so after a soft reset.

I would agree with Blbec that Odyssey Client does work better at locking on although not your current problem.

can you pull up the web interface of your home router? Or Wireless access point?

that would be a good test.

solved - but with no solid conclusions

One day the axim started being able to navigate again after I randomly pressed Odessy client. Now I can report that it works with some of the following tools invoked: Odessey Client On and Dell Lan client On - mostly but not always; Odessey Client On and Dell Lan client off mostly but not always; but never with Dell Lan client on and odessey off. The help files on the Axim are vanilla for microsoft and do not even mention the odessey client or Dell Lan client, so there is no way of inferring what these two products are, or why they sometimes need to be invoked together, other times not. Hope this helps
