Move info/programs from card to card

Hello, guys, total n00b here.
I got my x51v some time ago and have about 15 programs on it. I am not sure where they are installed, but I need to get that SD card out and put everything on a new CF card I just got. Simply copying from card to card did not work, and I am lost. Do I have to completely reinstall all the programs unto a new card or something can be done to make all programs functional? Maybe some type of linking to the new card from the root?
I have no idea how PDA installs programs, what goes where and how it all works, I just know that when I take SD card out, none of the programs work. If there is a tutorial anywhere, please point it out.
Also, how does one upgrade storage if you cannot drop the programs to a new card? Am I missing something very basic?
Thank you very much.

Sounds like you're going to have to do a complete reinstall of all non-functioning programs.

I've done this a couple of times. All you need to do is rename your CF card to whatever the pocket pc recognizes your SD card as (storage card?) and rename your storage card to something different. Then you can copy the files from your storage card in their entirety to your CF card (use your computer to facilitate the process). See this link for more information:

I have moved programs from my SD card to my new CF card. I used Pocket Mechanic! It has a tool that will automate the process. Worked like a charm! However Srvctec of right, if you have already moved the program and now it doesn't work you will most likel have to re-install them.
Good luck

That's a great tip, if you name your cards. Adds a protection process to my setup!:approve:
