Hello everyone,
this is my 1st PDA and my 1st post in a chat forum.

I can't say that i could be happier with this thing. and i just found out about 10min ago that i can connect in through remote desktop (winXP) through the terminal services of the Axim. I was like HOLY F*&(.. this thing is so
F&(*ing SWEET!!!!! :)

I did on the other hand find out where to put the themes on this thing.. although i wish there was a way to organize them a little better like a themes folder. but i called dell and they dont know of a way. so oh well.

And i learned some programs to avoid so far. there is one called Swiss palm and it seems like a nice program but what a pain in the but to uninstall. there is a spot to stop it from the start up and yes i know about the starup folder. but no matter what it would start up. so i tried uninstalling it and then i would get an error can't find what ever file. And aparently there isn't a start up program like MSCONFIG so i ended up having to do a Hard reset and reinstalling all the other programs. thats when i quikly found out about the back up. :)
Another program to avoid is the pocketmenu or something like that ,, on the same site as pocket tweak.. i could not get it to work very well so that went out the door as well.. but then i had the same kind of issue.. it would no uninstall properly.. but i reinstalled deleted certian files and then uninstalled and its gone..

anyway...

I LOVE THIS TOY..
I just wish i had a store close by to get add ons like an extra batt.

See ya

Hi, glad you like your new toy :)

Try doing a search of this board on 'themes' and you'll find a couple of recommended programs that do allow you to keep your themes organized in other folders.

Go to start - Programs
and open Terminal Services
in the Server Box, put in your IP address. and click connect...
then it should bring up a log on box (Win XP that is) and log in as u would your computer.

You must have XP Pro (not Home) and have it setup to require a login password.

So, using Terminal Services with XP pro, means you don't need a wireless network in your home to access email or surf the web? I don't understand what it enables you to do. Could someone please explain? Also, if I have attbi, would that be my IP address? Thanks. :D

got that working on my work laptop, but is there a way to get it to work from laptop to pda, instead of from pda to laptop?

Yes i have Xp Pro
No you dont need a wireless CF card or anything but i think i wasn't clear.
You have to have it on the dock or the sync cable and it will use its own connection to go on internet(IE), Mail, messanger, whatever...
So your only able to surf while hooked on the puter or something ... unless you get a LONG USB ext cable ;)

Anyone know of a way to find out your IP when connected on the Axim with out specifying one in the settings?

Actually I do this with a wireless connection and yes you can open up your mail this way without an "ActiveSync" in fact you can run anything on your desktop or laptop just as if you were at that terminal.

That said there are a few thing you need to know and do:

1. Your XP Pro box must have a password assigned even if you are the administrator.

2. You must have Remote Desktop enabled. Also set through a dropdown in My Computer Properties.

3. You must know your computer name as it's listed in My Computer properties. This is the name of your server for your PDA client.

3. Run Ipconfig from a "cmd" prompt and you will see your PC's IP address. On a router configured LAN this will be fixed through DHCP. My desktop for example is 192.168.1.102. My daughter's wireless connected laptop is 192.168.1.101. And my Axim was assigned 192.168.1.103 by the Linksys wireless CF software. These are internal IPs so they are static and publishing them like this does not pose a security problem.

Now start Terminal Services Client on your Axim and enter your computer/server name exactly and enter the static IP if asked. Don't click the box restricting the screen size. WinCE terminal services has a nicely built in scroll feature to quickly move around the PC screen. You'll pop up a login window if you successfully connect. Enter your PC's username and password and your PC screen will display its login screen or go blank and your Axim will load your XP startup screen.

Away you go from wherever you are up to the wireless limit of your system or the limit of your USB cord.

Great fun isn't it?
