Hello, I just received a 400Mhz Axim for Christmas. A concern that I have, though, is that when the Axim is in the cradle, it never cuts off. If I cut it off myself, ActiveSync simply turns it on again when it checks to see if all my files are synchronized.

The backlit screen does cut off after a minute or two, but you can still see that the PDA is on. Does this cause any concerns in terms of a screen burn, like on the CRT monitors? Or is it perfectly safe to leave it sitting at an idle position for several hours at a time?

Thanks!

Not to worry, Josh, LCDs don't have the risk of burn-in as do CRTs.

I read somewhere that the screens are not damaged by burn-in.
I'm pretty sure that even when the thing is "off", it's still awake in there with the screen and buttons disabled.
When reading an e-book, you can turn off the power, and later when you turn it back on, the page you were reading is still there.

If you don't want it to turn on, change the settings to manually sync, or sync on connection. Then you can turn it off in the cradle and it stays off.

I remember reading somewhere on Aximsite about a guy the opened his cradle and put a micro toggle switch on the green and yellow wires to charge his ax and not sync. I haven't done it yet but am just waiting for the time to do it. Hope this helps.

Umm, maybe it is still relevant but this thread is about 6 years old.

No problem, I wasn't having a go at you, I was having a laugh at Kcallahan, he obviously thought he was in another thread.

I have no idea how that happened.

Sounds like a Box trick to me.
