I have read that one would go to tart-->Settings-->Today-->Items but icons to choose from like the Excel, Word for Windows, media player, ect. icons are not there for me to pick from. I have seen some users having those icons on their today screen, how does one go about adding those icons? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

you'll need a bit of third party software to do this..

The most popular include SPB pocket plus, SBSH iLauncher, Wisbar Advanced, and rltoday (free) . but there are loads of others

The commercial ones have demos for you to try.. so find what works for you
