I read the tutorial you provided but it was for a different axim model, but maybe you can give me some insight to my present problem. I purchased my dell computer, with xp home editon, microsoft outlook 2003, ect this fall. I also purchased an axim x30 at the same time and had no problems with either till this christmas when my daughter received her own pda(an axim x50). She down loaded her software on her own user page without my knowing it. I went to use my axim and active sync program and I received the window but no connection. I have tried to troubleshoot and nothing is working. I have unistalled/reinstalled, check usb connections, device managed, you name it I've done it. I tried to call the dell tech support but the wait is so long I gave up. There is another thing that I have noticed that when I bring up the active sync window it states "no partnership". How do I establish a new "partnership? Where have I gone wrong? Or is this beyond my capabilities? I would appreciate anything assistance or guidance in this matter.
Welcome to Aximsite!
Do you still have ActiveSync installed? If yes, I would disconnect all devices (i.e., remove both Axims from the cradle), then delete the partnerships. To delete them, simply open up ActiveSync on your desktop, click on File, then Delete Partnership. Make sure you delete BOTH of them (i.e., your own and your daughter's). You can select which partnership by clicking on Files - Mobile Device.
After you've deleted the partnerships, completely uninstall ActiveSync. Then, with the devices NOT connected, reinstall ActiveSync. BTW, there is a new version out (3.8); the link is on the front page. After the reinstall, put one of the Axims on the cradle. It should automatically detect the device and re-establish the partnership. You can do that with the second Axim, but keep in mind that until you set up separate profiles, both Axims will share Outlook info. To set up separate profiles, you must go into your Control Panel into the Mail settings. Hope that helps. :)
Hi, The Guide has been very useful as I have just moved over from Palm to Windows Mobile. I am now just a little confused about where to store programs. You say 'Built-In Storage can only be rewritten to about 100,000 times, it is not an ideal place to store items that need to be frequently modified or updated.' Would this be a good place to run programs from, as they wouldn't be updated much?

You can install programs and store data in Built In Storage. Just keep in mind that it has a "shorter" life span than Main Memory or flash memory. In practice, 100,000 is probably more than you'll ever need unless you plan to keep your PPC for 10 years! ;)

There are probably two ways to upgrade existing software:
1) Remove existing program from device using Start>Settings>System>Remove Programs>Program in question>Remove. Then load upgrade to device. (Sprite Software, for instance, advises that the old program be removed from the device before the upgrade is loaded), or
2) Load upgrade to device in anticipation that any old program/files will be removed and/or overwritten by the upgrade.
In trying to update software, which one strategy of the two should one adopt, generally speaking, if no upgrading instruction is provided?
When in doubt, the safest way would be to completely uninstall and then reinstall. In addition to the "Remove Programs" utility, you could also use ActiveSync (if the program was originally installed via AS) or third party utilities such as MemMaid.
Keep in mind that if you uninstall then reinstall, you would most likely need to enter registration info again. By installing over an old installation, you typically would not.

When I select Storage Card, the memory does not come up, yet in my Axim X30H File Explorer I have memory space and item in it can be loaded and/or saved into the Storage Card.
Why can't I load programs or files into my Storage Card via ActionSync?

I'm not sure what you mean by "the memory does not come up". If you select SD card, it doesn't continue? Are you getting any error messages?
