x51v recording error "the data is invalid"

I have been using the recording feature on my dell axim x51v for 1.5yrs. I have a 2G SD card with default settings to record to SD card. I have plenty of free memory so not the problem. I am getting an intermittent error code when attempting to playback my recordings on the device in windows media, "the data is invalid." This only happens maybe 15% of the files I record and appears to be a random event. The device will appear to be recording just fine, but I get the message upon attempting playback.
I am a student and I am missing very important lecture info. Any ideas/tips on how to prevent this error and possibly save a file that was recorded with this error?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried transferring the file to your computer and see if it plays OK there? If so, then it may be a Windows Media Player problem on your device.

Also try using TCPMP instead of Windows Media player on your device. There are also lots of other free media players listed here that may work better than WM player.

Oh yeah, WELCOME TO AXIMSITE!!

Thanks for the info and welcome!
Yes, I have transferred the file to my PC and it will not play in window's media or musicmatch-which is the software I usually use for my recordings.
So, since we've ruled this option out, any other ideas?

Just guessing here- the only other thing I can think of is maybe it has something to do with the sd card. Do you have another sd card or maybe a cf card to try? Maybe when the recording is taking place, the card is having a hard time getting the info written to it in some cases. If this is the case, it may also be related to the write speed of the card. Have you tried changing the recording settings to a lower quality setting?

To reiterate, these are just guesses on my part. Maybe someone more knowledgeable with recordings on their x51v will respond. I don't use that feature much.
