X51v and Linksys WRT54G issues
I have the WRT54G router, hooked up, installed, and configured. My Axim shows a connection but when I try to load a page, I get the "page not found" message. I have no problem connecting to the internet when I am out and about say, at Starbucks or Panera but here at home, no go. Any suggestions?
Authentication: WPA-PSK
Data Encryption: TKIP
Router configured for mixed and the key is correct.
I have 4 green bars but no ability to access internet.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
W Dale

By the way, I can connect to 192.168.1.1 via my Axim wireless with no problem.

Are you using the Odessey client? I believe that is the only way to use WPA-PSK TKIP on the Axim.
Most WiFi hotspots do not employ encryption, which you are using on your WRT54G router. Try turning the WPA off, and see if you get a connection. Also make sure that the router is set to B/G mode, and not just G, as the Axim will only connect to a 802.11b router.
Once you get a connection, you can work up through the levels of encryption, WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.

X51v and Linksys WRT54G issues
Hi
I have the same basic router except mine has speedboost. Seems after I set it up I had too do a soft reset on my Axim x50. On the back side near the top you'll see a reset button use a ball point pen or something blunted and press it for a few seconds........:approve:
One more thing comes to mind you may have to go into settings on the WLAN Utility in connections touch the icon w/stylus tap setting window you should see your router displayed press and hold down on route name you'll see a command for connect or remove settings tap connect

Thanks! I will take that out for a test drive to see how it works. And if I understand you, wi-fi does not use (nor needs??) encryption. A wireless network however, in my home, should use encryption, yes?

Ok, gave that a try and could not get connected. When I went back to WPA-PSK, TKIP setting, put in the passkey, I am able to get connected, just not able to access any web pages or urls other than IP 192.168.1.1
Double checked the settings in Zone Alarm and have the IP addresses to trusted. Tried setting them to internet but still was not able so I set them back to trusted.

Turn off the powersave utility (on the Main page of the WLAN utility)
In the network settings - Start, Settings, Connections (tab), Connections, Advanced (tab), Select Networks and select "My Work Network" from both of the pull down lists. If you then tap the Edit... button under either list and the Proxy Settings (tab), the top box (This network connects to the Internet) should be checked but leave everything else on this page blank. After tapping OK, make sure both dropdown lists are still set to My Work Network and OK your way back to the Today page and then soft reset.

Does your Ax get a DNS server entry from your router?
Try entering the DNS server ip manually (you can look it up from your router) on your Ax or set it to 192.168.1.1.

Nice site ikehiker! Followed everything there and I get a nice strong signal on my PPC and the PC upstairs. Howeve, I cannot load pages from the internet. I know it has to be something very simple I have not done or am screwing up. Any suggestions?

Did you do the two things I mentioned above? Those are the most common reasons for the page not found but there are quite a few other suggestions in the Troubleshooting section of the Guide.

Hi Ike. I thought I did. I will go back over it again. I tried to connect using Odyssey Client as well but no go. I'll be back in a few...
Thanks again!

Odyssey is showing a "strong" signal (-50 db). When I am not using Odyssey, I am getting 4 full green bars and the "The page cannot be found..." message EXCEPT when I connect to 192.168.1.1
