Odyssey Client vs. Dell Wireless LAN

Will someone please explain the difference/advantages/disadvantages btwn Odyssey Client and Dell Wireless LAN? I use Wireless LAN to connect to my home wireless network. It was a pain to get my wireless running. What do most others use to connect?

I have a Dell Axim X50V running Windows 2003 SE.

I use the Dell Wireless LAN. Im not even sure what the odyssey does, but it is uneeded. In fact, there is a hack to delete it from ur main memory to free up over 2MB of ram. You can still restore it after a hard reset.

I don't know about the Axim, but HP includes Odyssey as a separate application on the Getting Started CD that comes with many IPAQs. The Odyssey application allows for more security settings.....for the IPAQ you need Odyssey to connection to a WPA secured network, but you don't need to use Odyssey if you are connecting to a WEP secured network.

I'm pretty sure the Dell WLAN on the X51 can handle WPA but there are enterprise-level security that require another program like Odyssey. Here's what I put in the WiFi Guide:
Quote:
Odyssey Client

Dell has included Funk Software's Odyssey® Client since an early ROM upgrade on the X30 and on the original releases on the X50 and X51. I am unclear from the discussions thus far on AximSite why some users have found it immensely helpful for home network use while others have been unable to use it and think the WLAN is better.

The Client is particularly useful on corporate and some university sites that use "Enterprise-Level Security" such as EAP-TTLS, PEAP, EAP-TLS, Cisco’s LEAP, and EAP-MD5 since these are not supported by the WLAN utility.
