Aximsiteactivesyncicon .pwi files deleted automatically with Actve Sync

I’m having some real hard time in trying to synchronize my .pwi files with my laptop.
For some reason, every time I connect to my laptop and sync, all .pwi files are automatically deleted from my laptop.
Fortunately, I had a back up so I didn’t loose any data!!
I’m using Active Sync 4.5. Actually I was using 3.8 and I upgraded to the latest version thinking it might be a solution to my problem.
I have a dell axim 30 running on Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.
If my device is connected and I put back all these files in the “My Documents” folder everything syncs fine. But as soon as I disconnect and reconnect my device and sync again, everything disappears…
The thing is, it used to work without any, lets say, major problems. But since I had to have my laptop reinstalled I had to go through the new partnership again and set things right, etc… I just don’t know why it won’t work any more??
On my laptop I’m using Microsoft Office 2003.

Has anybody ever experienced the same problem and what is the solution for this nightmare??
Many thanks

A few times, I lost all the data in my Activesync My Documents folder. I stopped use the My Documents folder. For a time, I used Mighty Sync and eventually I just stopped syncing files altogether.

Now all I sync is the Outlook data and anything else I copy directly to my SD card.

I think you need to check the setting of the files synching, you might have it set to copy files from the handheld to the pc, and that is causing the files on your laptop to get deleted (if they are not on your handheld).

If not, it may be another of the Active Sync mysteries!

Many thanks to both of you.
Since the mystery can not be resolved, I decided to copy all *touchy* files to the SD card.
