Aximsitex3icon 2 questions about quality of replacement parts

I have been using my x30 for several years now, i bought it just right after they were released. I bought an extended battery for it (I honestly dont remember where, if it was straight from dell or ebay) and have been happy as a clam for the most part.

My car charger got smashed a while back and I bought a generic replacement from ebay. I have used it for a while but its always been while I was in the car and it never was actually charging, just powering it while it was on and I was using it. Then 2 days ago I left it plugged in to charge fully overnight. First time that I have ever left it on with this charger. Now it will not hold a charge and drains even when not turned on. It might be coincidence, but I tend to believe that the charger killed the battery just because it was at the same time.

So first question, will poor quality chargers really do that or is it something else?

Second question, if I buy a new battery (because I cant find the original stock battery I should still have) then does it really matter much who the manufacturer is?

I dont want to spend much if quality is the same, but at the same time I dont mind spending more if the quality really is important.

We had problems with 2nd level chargers. Pa-14 from Dell is the best + whatever adapter you may need.

I will say, though, that ziplinq works well for us. I've bought dozens of retractable data connectors + usb chargers as replacements when people loose the pa-14 unit.

As for battery....it's really a lottery. You could get a winner or a looser.

Would there be any damage to the device from a bad battery or would it just be a matter of not holding charge like it already does? I odnt want to spend alot because i will probably replace the entire thing soon but im not ready to do that yet.
