Want to change the 'keyboard-data entry' format...

Hi

My dad gave me his X51v. The WM5 is in french, which is OK, but when I want to enter data, the pop-up keyboard is in AVERTY format, instead of QWERTY (FYI AVERTY is the format in Europe)

I'm trying to find how to change that format. Do I need to upgrade the ROM?

I can always use the Letter Recognition function, but it's a bit frustrating having only the 'wrong' keyboard format...

Can anyone help me here?

Thanks

Michel

Ok, I looked at it, and...nothing to help me here...

Now the 'stupid' question: I read somewhere (seriously I forgot where, and I didn't write the info down) that you can modify a Registry File to change the layout of the keyboard to QWERTY instead of AZERTY...

I serched everywhere (well almost...LOL) and couldn't find anything...

Does that sound like possible???

Michel

Look what I just found on Google (by changing my search term...doh...)

Change slide-out keyboard layout
If you have a Device from one country, but would like to use the keyboard layout of another, you can change the keyboard's language setting to do so...

For US layout (QWERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1033 (DWORD decimal)
For German layout (QWERTZ):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1031 (DWORD decimal)
For French layout (AZERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1036 (DWORD decimal)

Does that make sense???

Nice find, you just need a registry editor.
If you don't have one, you can download a trial version from resco.

Ok, I downloaded Resco...

I go to HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd and I add Locale = 1033

But when I reset my Axim, this info is gone?????

Doing more research I found:

Change slide-out keyboard layout

If you have a Device from one country, but would like to use the keyboard layout of another, you can change the keyboard's language setting to do so...

For US layout (QWERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 0409 (String)
For German layout (QWERTZ):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 0407 (String)
For French layout (AZERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 040c (String)
For Spanish layout (QWERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 040a (String)

But it doesn't work either...still got the AZERTY keyboard...

I give up....
