I am haviing a problem using the wireless on my X50v. It did work at some points in the past but not now!
------------------------------ START PROBLEM MESSAGE----------------
Enter the name of the device driver for this card. For information, see the card manufacturer's documentation
(In a box under the message is an announcement)
"Unknown card in Socket 2"
------------------------------ END PROBLEM MESSAGE----------------
My axim is an "X 50v ROM Version A05"
Hard Reset condition NOTHING else installed
No Cards Installed in either slot
ALL data removed
Sometimes when started the error will occur. Sometimes not but then it will show up when I try to activate the WLAN. When I try to turn the WLAN on, it will give the multicolored spinning box for a while and then displays that it is still off. When I go to the site tab, it indicates that there is no driver.
In the past, I have connected to my wireless network both at church and at home. I cannot remember what triggered the problem because I rarely used the wireless feature until recently when I wanted to use it and it won't work.
I have researched the net and various forums and have not found a definitive answer, only complaints and suggestions of "have you tried......". The one thing that I did find by referral (oddly from Dell Support) is the link at
TUTORIAL: The long awaited solution on how to use the SD Image Loader for flashing
HOWEVER, I don't want to end up with a very small boat anchor so I'm not comfortable in trying the procedure.
I have also tried to reload the A05 ROM update but get the message
The procedure CANNOT proceed due to the following reason:
*The update is the same as your current ROM image. You do not need
to update your Pocket PC.
* Only option was an OK button
My belief is that I have a corrupted ROM and hopefully someone will be able to tell me a simple way to reload one of the ROMs for the 50v at which point I can do the updates.
A hard reset is supposed to take it all the way back to factory condition. If this is true, then it should work. Do those of us that have this condition have a hardware problem? Or an OS problem? Or a firmware problem?
It would seem that if it is OS or Firmware there should be a way to fix with an update or patch. If hardware, well that's a different path.
It may be that I have simply not found the solution on my searches. If so, please point me to the right posted solution.
