Connecting to a Mac

Is anyone out there connected to a Mac running Leopard? I've tried both Missing Sync and PocketMac with no luck. Missing Sync seems to be the closest to working but can't establish a connection with my Axim x51v. Also, on the Axim, under settings-->connections, is there supposed to be a USB to PC option? I have beam, bluetooth, connections, dell WLAN, network cards, and odyssey. I saw a screenshot that had USB on it as well.

Thanks.

Sorry, I can't help you with the Mac issues.

The USB to PC missing tells me that you have an older ROM.
That was added, I think, to the A12 ROM update.
Perhaps upgrading to the newer ROM will allow you to connect to the mac, but you will need an XP computer to do that.

I am connected with a Mac running Leopard!

I am running PocketMac to connect to my Axim X51v. It works fairly well. I have had issues in the past, and from time-to-time it doesn't work, but I just write Tech Support and they walk me through on how to solve the problem.

There are a few things that it will be nice to know:

Go to Settings > Connections and on that screen you should see on the bottom row (third row) "USB to PC". If it is not there, then you have an early edition of Windows Mobile 5.0.

Go to Settings > System > System Information (near the bottom).
- you are looking for ROM Version: A12 (06200600) [this is mine]

or you can see what operating system you are running:

Go to Settings > System > About: It should say "Microsoft Windows Mobile Version 5.0", then on the next line it will say the Operating System, mine is "OS 5.1.195 (Build 14957.2.3.1)".

This will give you an idea how early or late your system is. Also, this will give the people (MissingSync or PocketMac) something to go with in trying to fix your problem.

Also, if you have installed MissingSync on your Axim X51v, saw it didn't work, then installed PocketMac (or vise versa) you have to make sure you clean your Axim X51v of any trace of the previous program (or it will NOT work). I have never installed MissingSync on my Axim X51v, but I have used it on a friend's Axim. I personally didn't like the way it worked (my opinion). I like the PocketMac program. It is NOT perfect, but it does a good job, most of the time.

If I can help you, I will. Tell me the above information and we will go from there. Also, there are others (Macs connected to Axims) on this site, so they will chime in before too long.

Welcome.

Old ROM

Yes, indeed it appears I have an old ROM version - A01, build 14366.1.01. I guess I never had to update it before. Is there an update manager on the Axim somewhere or is this an entirely manual process?

Thanks for all the help.
